Visualization Tools

for BC-NGA

A primary feature of BC-NGA is the open reporting structure that will permit viewing and downloading the database, include mapping features to visualize the information, e.g., regional and stratigraphic patterns of gas composition for formations, e.g., Muskwa-Otter Park and Evie Fm in Horn River Basin. The plan is to base the BC-NGA on pre-existing OGC database systems and reporting expertise, e.g., the OGC “Horn River Basin Unconventional Shale Gas Play Atlas”, or “Water Portal”. This transparent accounting approach will serve and engage various stakeholders including the general public, First Nations, governments, regulators, agencies and industries.

The hosting of the database and the creation of the portal with the visualization tools for the BC-NGA project will be done by Geoscience BC. (Geoscience BC contact: Carlos Salas, email:

Our goal is to obtain gas compositional data (molecular and isotope) for all producing horizons in NE BC and map them according to formation and location
